Two of Argyll?s most stunning gardens are getting ready to burst into bloom once again ? the National Trust for Scotland?s Arduaine Garden on Loch Melfort, south of Oban and beside the glorious Loch Melfort Hotel; and Crarae Garden on Loch Fyne, south of? Inveraray and between Furnace and Minard ? are both hosting Easter events perfect for all the family.

As well as hunting for buds and blooms, families can spend the Easter weekend at either or both of these great gardens ? on the Cadbury Easter Egg Trail from Friday 29th March until Monday 1st April.

The National Trust has teamed up with Cadbury for this fun family event ? and how many children do not dream of ?teaming up with Cadbury?. Visitors follow the Easter trail, collect the clues and win a Cadbury Easter egg.

Above the shores of Loch Melfort, Arduaine Garden is a hidden paradise? influenced by the North Atlantic Drift and growing a wide variety of plants from the four corners of the globe. Internationally known for the rhododendron species collection, the garden also features magnolias, camellias, azaleas and many other wonderful trees and shrubs, many of which are tender and not often seen. A broad selection of perennials, bulbs, ferns and water plants ensure a year-long season of interest.

Crarae Garden, above the shores of Loch Fyne, is Britain?s finest example of an exotic Himalayan-style woodland garden. The informal hillside layout of mature woody plants radiating out from the burn creates a wonderful natural effect. It is a magical spot at any time of year, with the earlier flowers of countless rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and magnolias being replaced later in the season by the rich tints of foliage and fruit.

Both are perfect places to visit during this Year of Natural Scotland, which aims to celebrate Scotland?s outstanding natural beauty throughout 2013.

These stunning natural and historic landscapes, art inspired by nature, are right on our doorstep.
